Chakra Mantra Definition

A chakra mantra refers to a sound, word, or phrase that helps activate the energy within a specific chakra.

The word mantra is defined as “a mystical formula of invocation.”

There are many different ways to incorporate chakra mantras into your practice that can help heal your chakra system and empower your life.

Chakra mantras have been used differently throughout cultures, some using more traditional mantras and some using more modern phrases and tones. When working with your chakras, there’s no one right way to practice mantras, and it’s important to find ones that resonate with you.

Everything in the universe is energy, including sound, which can be used as a powerful cleanser and healer, especially for the chakra system.

During meditation, a mantra is spoken to help clear your mind and focus your intention. The tone and sound of the mantra hold a specific energy and frequency, which then attune your body’s frequency to it.

In Hinduism and yoga practice, these mantras are used to activate the chakra system.

  • Root Chakra – LAM
  • Sacral Chakra – VAM
  • Heart Chakra – YAM
  • Throat Chakra – HAM
  • Third Eye Chakra – OM or AUM
  • Crown Chakra – OM or AH

Chakra Mantra In Your Life

Energy maintenance is very important for your overall wellbeing. Chakra Mantras are important tools to help bring balance to your energy system. Every day we’re met with an experience that may bring energy out of alignment, and chakra healing should be part of your daily practice.

You can incorporate chakra mantras in various aspects of your practice. If you participate in chakra yoga, you can chant these mantras in poses that correlate to specific chakras. This combination is a powerful way to activate your chakra system.

Body scan meditations are also a great way to incorporate chakra mantras into your life. While scanning your body, as you move throughout the areas of each chakra, you can spend time chanting the corresponding mantra.

This will help you get in tune with your body, activate each chakra, and become aware of the different sensations that may occur when a particular chakra is out of balance. You’ll better understand how each chakra affects you physically, mentally, and emotionally as you practice this.

When you use a chakra mantra, you’re also becoming more mindful of the energy within your body. This strengthens the connection between your mind, body, and spirit.

You can also create your mantras for each chakra and a specific change or healing that you wish to experience from activating it. For example, a mantra for the crown chakra could be “I strengthen my connection to Spirit.” Or, a mantra for the heart chakra could be “I open my heart to unconditional love.”

Spend time speaking these mantras out loud and pay attention to how they make you feel. You will notice a sensation in different parts of your body as the energy becomes activated throughout your different chakras. As you continue with this practice, you’ll notice the energy within you flow more freely and abundantly, and your world will become a peaceful reflection of this.
