Beginner Vinyasa Integration with Shauna Hawkes

We are thrilled to introduce our brand new workshop with Shauna Hawkes. At Divine Flow we are bridging the gap between our beginner friendly classes and our Moderate & Power vinyasa classes. Whether you are brand new to vinyasa yoga and wish to learn more about it or have been practicing for years, we will meet you exactly where you are! This is the perfect blend of integrating movement and breath.

Build confidence to progress from a beginners class or beginner program to all level DF classes.

With 11 years experience in teaching yoga and facilitating workshops and retreats, Shauna has an abundance amount of knowledge in the body and the way we move. Shauna has created a tailored workshop for our DF community with the aim to bring awareness and build confidence around vinyasa.

What are some great benefits by including a vinyasa practice into your routine
Vinyasa allows you to become strong both physically and emotionally without becoming hard. It creates a safe space where we can be challenged but without the need to be reactive with our mind through thoughts. This is what I’ve learned through the practice. It’s so powerful.

Why is it beneficial to learn the biomechanics behind the movement? 
When we know why we do what we do, it brings meaning and purpose into our lives. So it’s important to not only know what you are doing in vinyasa but why you are moving or breathing in a certain way so that the practice has impact on your life.

2hr Workshop Layout

Opening – Intro
15 minutes: workshop layout (what is vinyasa, why is it beneficial and how to breathe and keep my body safe while practicing)
5 minutes: questions about poses, breathing, anything yoga related
30 minutes: explaining a blueprint for most bodies in terms of how to engage muscles to keep the joints stable and how to build strength slowly to optimally support the body when its under load
45 minutes: going through a variety of poses and breaking them down
(Using a  physical technique to educate further) students bodies are used to demonstrate to others what common misalignments are and how to modify and adapt them.
20 minutes: vinyasa flow to integrate the information
5 minutes: – questions
